David A. Eijadi is a retired Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He has been making photographs for 50 years; creating singularly impressionistic images of the world over a wide variety of subjects. A pleasing photograph, a fragment of the world, tricks the viewers’ mind into seeing a story, a before and an after. Because it is hard to convey the fullness of life through one image, this exhibition is an expanded narrative on The Carnival of Venice 2014 and Venice’s complex moods and characters. The Carnival of Venice, a forerunner of February celebrations around the world, began in 1162 when Venetians gathered to dance in St. Mark’s Square in a celebration of a victory. Venice is already iconic, and many images are cliché.  But Carnival mixed with fog and sunlight and, fancy costumes and characters still provides exhilarating moments. The exhibit includes framed images from an eight-volume set, The Carnival of Venice 2024 along with the books themselves and large poster prints.
